How To Create a Kids’ Summer Essentials Cart

Ready, set, summer! If you know you will have your hands full with the kids this summer then now is the time to get ready. Getting organized plays a big part in reducing stress and freeing up more time for family fun! This is how to create a kids’ summer essentials cart that will help you feel more organized when going outside!

Getting organized NOW will mean less time in the house searching for swimsuits, sunscreen, and water toys and more time out enjoying the freedom of summer. Check out this simple way to organize family summer essentials that need to be readily available for all the outdoor fun!

One way I wanted to get prepared was to make sure we have a good stock of summer supplies and have them conveniently located when we go outside. My kids spend a lot of time outdoors. This year I decided it would be helpful to have extra supplies in various locations. I purchased extra toddler sunhats (these are so cute) for example so I can have one near our patio door, in the pool bag, and in the garage for when we take walks.

A storage cart is a helpful way to organize for summer. When I saw this storage cart, I knew it was the perfect option. It’s inexpensive, sturdy, and just enough space for our summer essentials. Extra towels, sunscreen, first aid supplies, and snacks can be ready to go in advance. This way it minimalizes going inside and then back outside, opening and closing the door.

I set up two storage carts for our family’s needs. One cart will be in the garage since my kids play out front and one cart by our patio door where we spend a lot of time engaging in water play.

I put sunscreen, bug spray, hats, sunglasses, bandaids, water bottles, baby wipes, tissues, and scissors (for opening popsicles) on our garage cart. The storage cart by our patio that can also be rolled outside has sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, hats, beach towels, water bottles, bandaids, and swim diapers for my youngest.

Kids’ Summer Essentials

These are some of our favorites for summertime with kids! These essentials are kept conveniently located and for that reason I buy multiples. I can keep them in our summer storage carts and also in our pool/beach bag.

  • gray storage cart // white
  • small storage bins for the cart // medium bins // 2 pk storage trays // 3 pk storage trays
  • sunscreen
  • bug spray
  • lip SPF
  • sunglasses for kids // women // men
  • hats for toddlers // kids // women
  • first aid supplies
  • water bottles and replacement valves
  • baby wipes
  • swim diapers
  • beach towels
  • scissors We always need scissors for the popsicles my kids blow through during the summer.
  • popsicles These are a summer favorite for sure!
