Today, we’re making a delightful Candy Cane Shaped Danish using only three simple ingredients: cooking spray, cherry pie filling, and crescent rolls. Get ready to treat your taste buds to a festive and scrumptious holiday delight!
- Cooking spray
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 1 can (8 oz each) crescent rolls
How to Make the Christmas Danish:
Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). While the oven is warming up, prepare a large baking sheet by lightly spraying it with cooking spray. This will prevent the danish from sticking and make for easy cleanup.
Unroll the Crescent Rolls: Carefully unroll the crescent rolls onto your baking sheet. Press overlapping edges together to help seal, but leave triangle points free.
Fill the Danish: Spoon the cherry pie filling along the center of the twisted dough, leaving the edges free. We used about half a can of the filling. The filling will spread as it bakes, so there’s no need to be too precise.
Bake to Perfection: Pop the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the danish is golden brown. Keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking.
Serve and Enjoy: Once your Christmas danish is out of the oven, allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving. The warm, flaky layers combined with the sweet cherry filling are sure to be a hit!
Optional Garnish: For an extra festive touch, sprinkle some powdered sugar on top of the danish before serving. This adds a hint of sweetness and a snowy holiday feel.
Can I Make This Dessert In Other Shapes?
Of course! This treat was created for holiday festivities but it can be enjoyed anytime. The cherry is perfect for winter, but you can use apple in the fall or lemon in the summer to match the seasons.
