Are you ready to top your Christmas table with quick, easy, and festive DIY Christmas lanterns? Lantern holiday centerpieces add to the ambiance of a beautiful home during Christmas. I wanted a holiday centerpiece in a few places in my home this year since I like to change out the seasonal decor on my kitchen island and dining table. And lanterns are just small reminders to my family that with just a little bit of imagination, you can always create your own light. These DIY holiday lantern centerpieces will illuminate your Christmas and set the tone for a truly wonderful celebration.
How to Make Christmas Lanterns
See below how the same two white lanterns can be styled in different ways for holiday celebrations or you could also style these bronze lanterns the same way! You can use any festive fillers such as pinecones, sisal trees, ornaments, and lights to style your own DIY Christmas lantern decorations.
Create a Scene in the Christmas Lantern
Create a scene inside your lantern by including holiday elements like snow, pinecones, your favorite ornament, or sisal trees can create the feel you are looking for. I’m planning to use one of the lanterns below after Christmas for a wintery lantern that will be perfect past the holiday.

Use Lights Inside the Christmas Lantern
Use Ornaments Inside the Lantern
By simply throwing some Christmas balls in a lantern jar, mixing them in with Christmas lights, accessorizing with ribbons, and voila! You’ve got this simple yet stunning Christmas lantern. The great thing is this can be any color combination that you need for your space – the possibilities are endless!
Look around for a moment and imagine this: instead of harsh fluorescent bulbs or dull overhead light, your room is illuminated by the joy of lanterns. Each lantern hums with a warm glow. Christmas lanterns are versatile and the same lantern can be styled for any event or season. A few lanterns, white lanterns, LED string lights, a pinecone votive, sisal trees, and a wood centerpiece can create your own DIY Christmas lantern decorations.

These centerpieces are gorgeous! I think the red ornament style is my favorite, but they all look great!
thank you, Margaret! The red really pops which I love as well!
These are such a gorgeous DIY project for the holidays!!
thank you, Shell! I have the lanterns with the red ornaments now and I just love them!
I love lanterns! They are so versatile. We have a ton of pinecones where we live and I’ve been dreaming about spray painting some with glitter paint and stuffing them inside a lantern.
That would be absolutely stunning, Tiffany! I have the red ornaments now inside the lanterns and plan to switch to pinecones in January for a “winter” feel! :)
