10 Things TO DO When You’re Snowed In

10 Things To Do When You're Snowed In

Being snowed in with the family was memorable and I wouldn’t trade the quality time we were able to spend together. Snow days make you realize how busy life really is – everything slooooows down when you are stuck at home. So here are 10 Things TO DO When You Are Snowed In.

10 Things TO DO When You’re Snowed In

one. Start the day with a hot breakfast.

two. Stay in pajamas all.day.long. with no guilt! I mean it isn’t too often, that there is absolutely no reason to get dressed. You can’t go anywhere, no one is stopping by, so why not be cozy?

three. Take Instagram photos although you may look crazy wearing pajama pants, hubby’s boots, and a coat. Like this one (@lovesimpybeauty) but remember no one is around to see (well, except the man walking his dog looking at you like you’ve lost your mind)!

It just got really real! We are literally snowed in (hence my buried bushes). ❄️I’ll just stay warm sipping my coffee dreaming of the Bahamas (until it’s time to shovel!) ?? #blizzard2016 #snow

four. When you can’t go outside, bring the snow inside. Try snow painting (snow painting how-to here)!

five. Play family games. H E L L O Hungry Hippo! Playing board games definitely brought back childhood memories. We tried Candy Land but my toddler couldn’t grasp the concept but he sure loooves Hungry Hippo.

six. Make your favorite “take-out” food at home. You can’t order take-out even if you wanted to (because everything is closed) so why not make it at home. We made a homemade pizza and everyone could choose their own favorite toppings!

seven. Shovel the snow. So, I know shoveling is not exactly fun but realistically it has to get done. During the actual blizzard, it was pretty miserable outside but I greatly appreciated my husband’s effort to stay on top of shoveling and he did most of the hard work! I went out to shovel after I put the kids to bed and I actually enjoyed it. I was like a kid really excited to make the adventure out!

eight. Go for a walk and enjoy the scenery. Now, I know there are many negatives about snow but since we can’t control it, might as well enjoy it a little bit. It was so serene – the wind had stopped, it was quiet and fresh snow blanketed the ground!

nine. Make bath-time an activity! We added lots of bubbles and used bath finger paints and it entertained the boys for a long time!

ten. When it’s safe to do so, get out and play!

Love these ideas. I hope to live near snow someday. I have to convince the hubby though. Kiddos and I believe it’s dreamy!!

It was really pretty the first few days! I think I would miss experiencing the seasons the way we do here if we ever leave this area.
